The Old Boathouse, nestled along Leazes St in Amble, is a seafood lover’s paradise that consistently dazzles its diners. Celebrated for its stunning waterfront views and warm ambiance, the restaurant has garnered rave reviews from those who have dined here. Patrons like Eddie Williams have praised its diverse menu and the spectacular presentation of dishes that explode with flavor, making it a go-to spot for special occasions.
On a sunny May Day, a group indulged in the famed haddock and chips, which received acclaim for being among the best they’ve tasted, complemented by homemade tartare sauce. Families are also catered to, as evidenced by Jenny Hughes’ experience where even the kids’ fish and chips were considered the best ever by her 7-year-old.
The variety doesn’t end with the standard menu; customers rave about the specials featuring locally sourced seafood, such as the impressive sharing platter highlighted by Phil Keighley. Not only is the food exemplary, but the friendly, attentive staff enhance the overall dining experience, making each visit memorable. With fair pricing and an unforgettable culinary journey, The Old Boathouse is a must-visit destination for seafood aficionados looking to indulge by the sea.

We visited for my birthday and was not disappointed at all. The selection was great, with several optional specials on the board too. When the food arrived it was spectacular. Full of flavour, looked amazing and tasted great. Will definitely be going back

Lovely May Day, five of us decided to eat here over looking the sea, we all ordered the same haddock and chips with mushy peas and homemade tartare sauce. It was a lovely fresh fish, chips some of the best I have had, great peas and homemade tartare sauce,All five of us really rated here, freshness of the food, the place it’s self and great friendly staff. Mine 27.20 inc coffee, all said it was good value.

We came for lunch & had a range of dishes which were ALL absolutely outstanding! Even the kids fish and chips got praised as the best fish our 7 year old has ever eaten! So good we came back again the next day!

Beautiful place right on the pier. Servers was amazing and they said we could get our fish without the heads. Would definitely look at the special menu as all the fish options were of the special menu. Would come back again.

Enjoyed a wonderful meal whilst visiting Northumberland. A lovely location by the harbour, warm and friendly welcome, great service, and above all superb food! We went for the seafood sharing platter (pictured) and it was wonderful. A great variety of fresh locally caught fish, mussels and lobster. And for the size of the platter, it was very good value - our only problem was we couldn’t quite finish it all but we gave it a damn good go! Highly recommended and we will definitely return.

The food was impeccable! Incredibly tasty with very good service. The decor was beautiful and so was the views and the food. We were at in a corner table which really did feel like the best seat in the house. The food arrived quickly and promptly, including any extras such as drinks and sides. The seafood was so fresh and cooked to perfection, In our party we had two lobsters, muscles (which were the largest I'd ever eaten!), Hake and king prawns. All was to die for. Was certainly an expensive meal, but I didn't feel short changed at all! Would come back if we ever got the chance - make sure to book as it's a very busy place, you can tell they've really cracked the service and food. Thank you for a wonderful evening on our last evening of our holiday!

We ate at The Old Boat House on the first night of our three night stay in Amble. Definitely a good choice. The choice of fish dishes was great and tasted amazing. I had the fish and chips and my husband had the Makeral off the specials board. We hadn't booked but they managed to squeeze us in. I would definitely recommend booking as its a very popular restaurant. We visited the second evening just for drinks and spent a few hours sat outside enjoying the nice weather. We visited again on the third night with the intention of just having drinks but again it was such a lovely evening one drink turned into three so we decided to stay and ordered pizza, which was just as good. The staff are so welcoming and chatty. Nothing is too much for them. I can highly recommend a visit.
